About Me

My name is Matt Timpf, and I AM A BIRDER.

I was born and raised in southern Ontario. From a very young age I was encouraged to appreciate nature in all its many forms. I have a strong interest in all living creatures, but especially so with birds.

For much of the past 20 years I have watched birds. At first it was enjoying them at the feeder (my earliest birding memory is watching Evening Grosbeaks), then I became fascinated with birdwatching in general, and subsequently with bird banding.

I completed my Bachelor of Science at Queen’s University, majoring in biology. Over much of the past decade I have worked on many bird research projects. I’ve had the privilege to work throughout southern Ontario, the Cumberland Plateau of eastern Tennessee, Alaska, Mexico, and I’ve also spent a few months volunteering in the jungles of Costa Rica.

I’ve decided that this year I would like to try and see as many species of bird that I possibly can in our enormous country!
